Karl Johan Collar Pattern

*Please note that this listing is a DIGITAL PDF pattern, not a physical product.

The Karl Johan Collar is a quintessential Scandinavian cold weather accessory, named after the brown-capped Karl Johan mushrooms (Boletus edulis) that pop up from the mossy floors of the pine forests of Scandinavia at the beginning of the cold season. On an autumn or winter day, just grab your collar, tuck it in inside your coat, and you get that cozy and snuggly extra layer of warmth around your neck and upper torso.
The Karl Johan Collar is worked seamlessly with two strands held together (one strand of Merino and one strand of Soft Silk Mohair). It begins in the round with the ribbed folded-over neck, and work continues in stockinette stitch, with modified contiguous saddle shoulders and short-row shaping construction. Shoulders are then bound off, and front and back panels are worked separately back and forth to size.
